Used 1969 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 for sale in Houston, Texas

Up for sale in our Houston showroom is one of the most iconic muscle cars that has ever laid rubber on public streets the 1969 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500. Shelby is a higher performance variant of the Ford Mustang which was built by Shelby American from 1965 to 1967 and Shelby Automotive from 1968 to 1970 (The 69 and 70 Shelby Mustangs were built entirely at the Ford Plants only the 65â?68 cars were modified by Shelby at his sites). The GTs lost their Cobra tag for 1969 and once again were marketed simply as Shelby GT 350 and Shelby GT 500. The GT 350 and GT 500 for the 1969 model year received an extensive face lift increasing the overall length by 4 inches. For most of the decisions Ford had control for style and design of the car while Shelby had very little input. Carroll Shelby terminated his agreement with Ford in the summer of 1969 which means no 1970 Shelby GT models were produced. Instead unsold 1969 models were given 1970 vehicle identification numbers under the supervision of the FBI. This Shelby GT 500 comes very well documented and has been restored to look as if it is right from the factory. The numbers matching 428 C.I.D Cobra Jet V8 and 3 speed automatic transmission is a great power package and has a total of 60802 actual miles since brand new in 1969. This is 1 of 1534 GT sportsroofs and only 4 recorded owners since new in the Shelby Registry. The car has been completely gone through and sorted out during a multi-year rebuild. The engine was rebuilt as was the transmission brake system AC system carburetor and all major components. All instruments in the car have been re-calibrated re-chromed and had lenses polished. On rebuild the stock water pump was replaced with a high capacity unit and the radiator was replaced with a Griffon radiator. The car has all its original floor pans fenders hood and other major sheet metal items from new except receipts show that door skins were replaced in 1986. This beauty came from the factory as a Black Jade exterior with White vinyl inside it has since been repainted Black but still equipped is the reupholstered White interior.
