VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1965 Pontiac GTO for sale in Houston, Texas

Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to present this awesome 1965 Pontiac Royal Bobcat GTO. What is a Royal Bobcat GTO? Think of it as being a rough equivalent to the beastly Chevrolets that Don Yenko modified at his Chevrolet dealership in Canonsburg, PA; only the idea for the Royal Bobcat originated with Ace Wilson, Jr. at his Royal Pontiac dealership in Royal Oak, MI. Being relatively close proximity to Pontiacs corporate offices, he met with, and gained the support of some key folks at Pontiac to set up a program whereby buyers of Pontiacs could gain access to Pontiacs high-performance parts, and work with a dealership that had the talent in its service department to perform the appropriate modifications. This is one of those GTOs, having formerly been in the Don Sitts Collection. It features a very attractive Nightwatch Blue (trim code E-E) exterior over blue interior (code 217); plus, its packing one of Pontiacs legendary 421 CID V8 engines under the hood, as part of the Royal Bobcat package. The Tri-Power-equipped 421 sends the power out back via a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission, to 3.23:1 gears in its limited slip differential-equipped rear, so you know that those G70-14 red wall tires are going to be no match for the potent power train in this bad boy. This GTO has the optional rally gauge cluster, and even comes with a factory AM/FM radio, which was an infrequently chosen option in 1965. This GTO comes with PHS documentation; so youre not just getting a pretty car, but will also have documentation to show off to your admirers at all of the car shows youll want to take it to. Dont wait to snap up this piece of history - call or email our Houston Showroom today to make it yours!
