VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1948 Dodge Pilot House Radio Cab for sale in New Braunfels, Texas

Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is very excited to present this over the top 1948 Dodge Pilothouse Radio Cab custom creation! Starting its life as a 1 1/2 ton grain truck in rural Kentucky, but a whole lot has changed over the years. This Dodge is a rare pilot-house five-window 1 1/2 ton model - even rarer as it was optioned with a radio - Kyle Cochran from Rustic Nail & Co. (the original builder) believes that this truck is one of just 829 made with this option package. John Michael and Kate Potter originally sold the truck to Kyle for a paltry $22.00 - quite a fair price for what was originally a grain hauler that spent its life registered in Warren County, Kentucky. Only the cab and front clip remain from the original truck. SelfMade Fab in Dayton, OH earned the credit for putting the Dodges frame together, creating a custom chassis that would support both the power AND the weight by incorporating a triple stack 2 bag AccuAir air ride system, an Indo VT air tank, dual ViAir compressors, an AccuAir e-Level in cab bag controller, some smooth body dual adjustable RideTech shocks and the Big Ball four-link rear-end built by Jason Thorbeck at Thor Bros. Kingspeed Race and Repair supported the running gear from a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 and a Flaming River Steering System, also using the upper & lower A-arms, adding to the overall drivability of this Bad Boy! Make no mistake about it, this was built to be used daily. Under the hood lurks a beast of a powerplant, a King Speed built 24 Valve twin turbo Cummins, creating around 70psi of boost! This Dodge will smoke the tires right off of the custom built 24 Alcoas, but still tow a trailer loaded with your favorite hot-rods. The interior was kept simple, but updated. Tilt steering, Lokar shifter, custom dash housing a complete set of AutoMeter Sport Comp II gauges, cruise control switches and custom fabbed A/C vents, all surrounded by a nicely done bright red interior. This is one of those builds, as seen on YouTube & in various publications since completion in 2017, that makes you just admire the imagination & knowledge that it takes to pull off something like this!
