VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1948 GMC Pickup for sale in New Braunfels, Texas

Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this 1948 GMC 1/2 Ton Pickup. In 1912 General Motors patented the GMC truck name and the rest is history. GMC has become known for building dependable trucks that have become the workhorse of America. After the war, the GMC light and medium duty trucks had a major redesign called GMC New Design. With an Inca Gold cab, hood, and bed sides with the black running boards and large headlights surrounding its silver horizontal 3-bar integrated grille, this truck drips with late 1940s design. Upon opening the long bulbous hood, we are met with a 228CID Inline 6-cylinder engine, which is believed by the owner to have been gone through during an earlier restoration (although not documented). This 228CID is topped by a 1-barrel carburetor, and an oil bath air cleaner. A 4-speed manual transmission is attached to the rear of the I6, keeping in tune with the original 1940s character. The cab features a bench seat upholstered in black vinyl joined by a color-coordinated rubber floor covering. Interior equipment includes a grey steel dashboard, a floor shifter, a cabin heater, and a push-button AM/AUX radio. The three-spoke GMC steering wheel frames an 80-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and an amp meter. The 5-digit odometer reads 800 miles, although true mileage is unknown. In true GMC truck form, with a larger frame and bigger engine than the same year Chevys, youll be able to take a load of hay to the market or go out on the town for cruise night with your lady!
