Used 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle for sale in Grapevine, Texas
Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is excited to present this clean 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle, in classic White on black.By 1979, VW Beetles, formally known as Type 1, had already been around since 1938. In that 50-year span, they still retained the lines of the original, and like they say... why mess with it if its ok? They are simple, easy to work on, light and nimble cars- sporting air-cooled flat 4-cylinder rear-mounted engines producing just enough horsepower to get them up to speed. Early ones now command a small fortune, and Walt Disney added to their fame with the HERBIE movie series, where a spirited VW can drive and fix itself, and smoke Ferraris on the race track. This pretty Super Beetle looks great inside and out and runs well. The paint quality is very good, as are the underside and interior. The VW Super Beetle came to the market in 1971. It is officially known as the VW 1302 from 1971 to 1972 and VW 1303 from 1973 onward but most commonly called Super Beetle. The 1600 cc engine runs well, and the 4-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly. The last full year for the VW Beetle in the U.S. was 1979, but it wasnt done yet in South America, not even close. The Beetle lasted 24 more years there, and in Mexico only ceased production in Mexico when four doors were required for taxis. This Beetle was brought to us imported from Mexico, and has some nice custom touches! Modern front seats in black leather, as well as the rear seats reupholstered in the same black leather. The suspension has been lowered with nice deep-dish steel wheels on long-lasting Kenda KR20 tires. This 1979 VW Beetle can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD photos at www.gatewayclassiccars.com.
