Used 1972 Ford Maverick for sale in Crete, Illinois
Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is proud to present this rare 1972 Ford Maverick Sprint Edition. The Sprint Edition was a limited run commemorating the 1972 summer Olympics in Munich. Though a number of tasteful upgrades were done on this example, it still houses what is believed to be the original 302 CID V8 engine, C4 automatic transmission, and rear axle housing. The engine has been freshened up with a slightly hotter cam, a 4-barrel carburetor, and a set of performance cylinder heads to put some pep into the Mavericks otherwise unimpressive step. The transmission was given a general overhaul, and the rear axle was changed from a highway gear to a more all around radio of a 3.00:1 with a limited slip differential. The interior saw a few changes as well, including the addition of 3 column-mounted gauges in order to keep an eye on the refreshed engines health. The original bench was swapped out in favor of a pair of bucket seats, redone in the correct red, white, and blue color scheme for the Sprint Edition package. Much of this work was done some time ago, but the car still looks incredible. The under hood compartment was recently refreshed with new hoses, starter solenoid, and a few other odds and ends that really make this car pop at shows. As proof, the vehicle has recently wone several awards at local car shows. This rare 1972 Maverick Sprint Edition is likely to be the only one at any car show that you take it to.
