VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1972 Ed Roth Trike for sale in Phoenix, Arizona

Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is honored to offer for sale, on consignment, this legendary 1972 Ed Roth Trike! If the name rings a bell, its most commonly because of his notorious cartoon character Rat Fink. He is also well known for his custom car and bike builds. Speaking of bikes, this was modeled after the first known VW powered trike built by Ed back in the early 70s. This is reported to be built by Ed Big Daddy Roth himself, the current owner purchased this from the original owner (his brother) 17 years ago. This trike is powered by a 1600cc Volkswagen flat four with an automatic transaxle for ergonomic cruising. Thats just what you need once you park your keister down into the drivers seat. This particular trike is in, what we like to call, survivor condition, meaning as much of it that could be kept original, was. When the original gas tank began to fail, a 2 gallon stainless replacement was mounted by the foot pegs. When the front brake calipers seized up, they were removed. The House of Kolor blue is still in shiny, eye catching condition and is the source for the homing beacon level of attention that it commands. The black seats are in great shape and provide the necessary comfort for a leisure cruise. It would take a few things to get it back to its former glory and be a really fun project to honor the life and work of its creator. This is your chance to acquire a legendary bike built by a legendary artist that should only appreciate in value. Call our sales staff today to get the details.
