VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1962 Cadillac Fleetwood for sale in New Braunfels, Texas

Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this 1962 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special finished in a deep maroon, originally known as Pompeian Red. The Cadillac Sixty Special name has been used by Cadillac to denote a special model since the 1938 Harley Earl-Bill Mitchell-designed Series 60 derivative. The Sixty Special name would soon be synonymous for some of Cadillacs most luxurious vehicles and was offered as a four-door sedan and briefly as a four-door hardtop only. The 62s styling remained similar to the 61, with the Sixty Specials fender louvers being moved up to the roof, directly behind the rear door opening, giving it an even more elegant look. A revised grill up front, and a new trim panel below the rear deck lid rounded out the subtle changes. Powering all 1962 Cadillac models was an overhead valve 390CID V-8 with a 10.5:1 compression ratio, hydraulic valve lifters, five main bearings, and a Carter two-barrel carburetor. The 325 horsepower was effortlessly sent to the rear wheels via the automatic transmission, making for some nice, smooth cruising. Standard equipment included power windows, whitewall tires and a heater, and this particular vehicle was also delivered from the factory with accessory codes EKY, which were Soft Ray glass (E), Air Conditioning (K) and Electric front seat (Y), however the A/C is only blowing warm, and the power bench seat is no longer operational. The two-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and a gauge for fuel level. If youre looking for a 60s land yacht with style and panache, then this is the one you want to own!
