VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle for sale in Houston, Texas

Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is excited to present this crazy-well-built Tuxedo Black 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle. While this car bears a great deal of resemblance to what it left the manufacturing line as cosmetically, below the skin it is one brawling beast. Given an extra-deep bath of a deliberately unobtrusive Tuxedo Black metallic paint, this Chevelle almost has sleeper written on it. The clean lines of the 69 Chevelle remain, and it is believed that of its panels are original; but that black paint is definitely not an original 69 Chevy color...or a GM color, for that matter - its a 2014 Ford color. Chevy purists may whine, but only for a moment. Get this beast out in the sun and prepare for a visual feast from the metallic bits doing their reflective thing! Inside, it looks pretty much like a restored 1969 Chevelle (with a completely new interior); which, given its King Kong drivetrain, may come as a bit of a surprise...no extra bells and whistles, just the basics - except for the Chevelle SS gauge package (this is not a True SS, but who cares), the controls for the Vintage Air, the Kenwood AM/FM/CD head unit, and the non-GM bucket seats. If you never heard it start, youd think its just a 69 Chevelle 396. However, when the ignition key is turned clockwise, its Blueprint Engines 540 CID crate motor will change your perception from nice car, to oh my goodness in a fraction. When this gigantic aluminum-headed Rat motor comes to life, the faint of heart will run for the hills (as will potential competitors). When the mighty 8.5L V8s ignition switch gets turned to the on position, one can hear and feel all 680 horses (with their 688 LB/FT Torque) stampeding to life, as fed by its Earls/Holley-enhanced fuel system. The big Holley HP 850 CFM 4BBL carb draws fuel through its 1/2-inch aluminum fuel lines, being supplied by a ROBBMC in-tank sending unit and Holley HP electric fuel pump. Opening the hood reveals a ton of the good stuff: MSD-APS high-torque starter, MSD Digital 6AL ignition controller, MSD Blaster 3 coil, MSD Pro-billet distributor, MSD 8.5mm plug wires, high-rise Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, coated Hedman headers, CVF serpentine belt drive system (with CVF accessories), Hydroboost power brake assist, K&N air cleaner with both top and side draw, nicely loomed and protected wiring, body-color-matched high-rise aluminum valve covers, and a massive polished aluminum Summit racing radiator with twin Summit performance electric fans (rated at 1356 CFM). The big 540 mates up with a TCI-built GM TH400 3-speed automatic transmission (with its 3000RPM Stall converter), and they work together to send that power through the new Houston Drivetrain-built custom driveshaft that spins the Richmond Gear 3.08:1 ring and pinion gear-set (with Eaton limited slip differential) in the Moser Engineering-enhanced (31 spline axles, C-clip eliminators) GM 12-bolt rear end. If you worry about old car brakes and whether you can haul this monster down from triple digit 1/4-mile speeds, then stop worrying, because this car STOPS, NOW. Combine the Hydroboost braking enhancement with its 4-piston Wilwood calipers (and slotted and drilled multipiece Wilwood rotors) at all four corners, and you can stand this beast on its nose if you brake hard! This gnarly 69 Chevelle saw plenty of attention paid to its handling capability as well: Hotchkis 1 lowering springs, with Hotchkis traction assist air bags for the rear springs, QA1 lower trailing arms and QA1 anti-hop bars (rear), Edelbrock adjustable upper control arms, Monroe OE Spectrum 1 lowering shocks, all new urethane body and suspension bushings, and you have a very tight-handling Chevelle. Combine that braking power with the grip of its fresh, sticky NITTO NT450 performance radials (225/70R17 up front, 275/70R17 out back), youll soon lose your fear of squeezing the binders down tight. When you have this car in your collection, youll look for every opportunity you can find to slip into that fresh interior and hit the road. With its new factory headliner, carpet, dash pad, door panels, seating surfaces (all new synthetic leather), weatherstripping and seals, new tilt steering column, and the Vintage Air upgrade, this is practically a new 1969 Chevelle. Go ahead - fire it up, tune in some vintage Zeppelin on the fresh Kenwood head unit and let its Pioneer speakers fry your ears while you hit the open road with the A/C blasting. Then again, you might prefer listening to the music that emanates from under the hood, instead! This is one 1969 Chevelle that youll want to take out for more than just the occasional cruise to the car meets - its too nice to save for just special occasions!
