Used 1973 Volkswagen Beetle for sale in Houston, Texas
Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is pleased to present this iconic 1973 Volkswagen Beetle. In the 1930s, Dr. Ferdinand Porsche started with a steel platform chassis and added all wheel independent torsion-bar suspension. The rear-engine platform gave additional traction, as well as effortless steering. Styled by Austrian designer Erwin Komenda, the shape of the Beetle was for strength, not looks; a curved piece of metal simply has more strength than a flat one does. The body attaches with eighteen bolts to the chassis which featured a central structural tunnel. The small two-door car could accommodate four passengers while providing storage under the front hood and behind the rear seat. Not only is the air-cooled, rear-engine VW Beetle one of the most iconic cars in classic car history, it is the fourth highest-selling automobile of all time. During the original Beetles 65-year production run, more than 21 million were built world-wide. The major change for the 1973 Beetle involved a curved panoramic windshield for the Super Beetle that was 43 percent bigger than the old one that added much better visibility & this example of that famous German engineering reminds us of a time gone by! This has the 1585cc engine, 4-speed manual transmission, good looking paint, newer looking vinyl seat coverings, seat belts and an almost new set of rubber, so for more information on this good looking 1973 Volkswagen Beetle and to see all the HD pictures and videos of it, simply copy the URL below, and see it at this direct link: https://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/show/HOU/2102.
