VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1983 Lincoln Mark for sale in Kenosha, Wisconsin

Gateway Classic Cars of Milwaukee is pleased to present this 1983 Lincoln Mark VI coupe. Lincoln had been producing some of the finest American luxury cars for over 100 years. Founded in 1917 by Henry M. Leland and purchased in 1922 by the Ford Motor Company on the console of Henry Fords young and bright son Edsel, the Lincoln Motor Car Company was Fords answer to combat General Motors very successful luxury division Cadillac. (Also found by Leland years earlier). For the next few decades, Lincoln stayed the course and built very beautiful cars for the elite the world over, but it wasnt until Edsel had the idea for the Continental in the late 1930s and basically laid the groundwork for the personal luxury car. At least 15 years ahead of its time, this new personal luxury car market really took off by the mid 1960s and wouldnt you know it, the Lincoln name once again played a huge role in this market. First in 1956 when the Mark II debuted and again in 1969 with Lee Iacoccas Mark III. The simple idea of a long hood, short deck and ultra-comfortable cabin and spare time hump on the decklid all became synonymous with the Mark Series cars. Our featured Mark VI is from the 5th generation of the Mark Series and debuted for the 1980 model year. The Mark VI was drastically downsized from its predecessor to make smaller more fuel-efficient vehicles. Sitting on Fords new Panther Platform, the Mark VI shared many components with other vehicles in the Ford & Mercury family, but the Mark VI was set to be Lincolns flagship car. This Mark VI is equipped with a Ford 5.0-liter electronic fuel injection V8 engine paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in silver paint with beautiful burgundy leather plush seats. Inside the car you will also find plenty of wood grain accent pieces. A digital dash gauge cluster, power sunroof and AM/FM/Cassette radio. The exterior of the car featured the famous Continental spare tire hump molded into the decklid. 15 alloy turbine style rims wrapped around Firestone thin white wall tires. Th car also boasts opera lights and opera windows and gills behind the front wheels. This comfortable machine also features power steering and brakes and seat belts. Take a ride in this malaise era dream boat today!
