Gateway Classic Cars Milwaukee is excited to present this 1958 Ford Edsel Ranger. The Edsel was produced from 1958-1960. It was designed with the intention of creating a fourth brand in the Ford line up creating the Mercury-Edsel- Lincoln Division. Marketed as the car of the future with multiple advanced features that included a seven-model product lines that included two-door, four-doors, station wagons and at one point a convertible. Unfortunately, the Edsel lived a short life due to lagging sales. The public described the car as unappealing in design and paired with a market launch during a recession resulted in poor sales numbers. This 1958 Ranger was the base trim level for the Ford Edsel. Standard appointments on the Ranger included a cigarette lighter, rear-view mirror, two coat hangers and a rubber floormats. Such items as a heater, armrests, radio, seatbelts and air conditioning were available at extra cost. Under the hood of this 1958 Ranger is the optional 361 cubic inch V-8 attached to a three-speed automatic transmission with optional “Teletouch drive selection buttons in the steering wheel hub. This Edsel is painted in Ember Red with color matching factory wheel covers. A period white vinyl interior has plenty of room for six with its expansive bench seating. Comfort features include power steering, heater option and dual outside mirrors. The iconic horseshoe grill defines this 1958 Ford Edsel Ranger. A car that has inherited its own cult following in the classic car market. Whether loved or hated, the Edsel has surely found its place in automotive history.
