This vehicle has been owned by one family, and on paper is with the second owner who acquired it from extended family in 1998. The mileage is stated to be original by the seller, and we hope the condition vindicates the mileage. The original owner used the car VERY little, and the current owner has maintained the vehicle to a high standard ever since acquisition. The overall condition is great! The exterior, interior, and engine bay show no major issues or faults. The running condition is confidence inspiring as well. The owner had the entire brake system rebuilt three years ago along with all new coolant hoses. The seller purchased proper replacement tires from Coker Tire - adding confidence behind the wheel of this 3-pedal roadster! Staying true to its roots this Model A comes equipped with a manual transmission and three pedals. Unlike the original Model A this one has 4 forward gears, and a much easier to work with drivetrain. Accelerating and braking is decades (literally) ahead of the original Model A while retaining the original styling and appeal of it. Harry J. Shay - the founder of Shay Motors - was onto something special and in this writers opinion ahead of his time. Todays idea of a restomod is commonplace and almost expected. Wind the clock back 40 years and customizing cars is not new. Putting new engines in old cars is not new. Producing a classic with all new running gear but retaining a very original appearance, not quite as commonplace. Certainly not executed to this level! These vehicles are the perfect ice cream grabber, parade car, entry level classic, or golf-cart community super star. This particular vehicle is one of the finer examples to roll into our climate-controlled showroom. Shay Motors never produced more than 10,000 of their vehicles to dodge more strict vehicle manufacturing guidelines, so while this is not the only one, it may be one of the nicest surviving!
