Gateway Classic Cars Milwaukee is excited 1980 Shay Model T Replica. The Shay Motors Corporation was formed in 1978 to build a modern- day replica of the Model A. Working directly with the Ford Motor Company using the same 2.3 4cyl. engine and chassis used in the Ford Pinto. The Shay Model A was built with a fiberglass body with five different body styles. Offerings included a single spare tire mount, dual spare tire mount, rear mounted spare, pickup truck and panel truck. The Model A was built by teams of four people limiting the number of cars being built. The Shay Model A was distributed through actual Ford dealerships. In the end Shay could not keep up with demand and only one-half of the target goal of 10,000 units was produced before the Shay Motors Corporation went belly up. This 1980 Shay Ford Model A Replica is the dual spare tire model. Painted in classic beige with black fenders and running boards. The rumble seat is fully operational and highlights an era gone by. Added exterior features include black wire wheels mounted on wide whitewall tires, dual horns and pinstriping. The black interior is appointed with a vinyl bench seat and modern gauges. The 2.3 4cyl. engine is attached to a four-speed manual transmission. The 12v electrical system creates the ability to have period correct looking lights but more adequate lighting capabilities not found on the original Model A.
