Ever seen one up close, heard one idle, or wind up? Nothing like it, and the instant high horse high torque explosion it makes. Those wide cogged belts make a sound thatll get your blood pumping, for sure. Ok so for the layman, a blower is a belt or gear driven mechanical pump typically seen on low efficiency diesel bus, or vintage aircraft. They are an air pump, designed to force-feed air into a motor (in this case, air and fuel), to increase the efficiency of the combustion cycle, by packing more air and fuel into each intake stroke. That equates to a heck of a lot more power than the motor would make without it. Sure, a supercharged motor USES power to drive the blower, but the net gain is much higher than the loss, and very noticeable. And, it looks really cool sticking up with two Holleys screaming. Many modern car manufactures bolted blowers on some models, because they understand the performance benefit.
