Used 1979 Pontiac Trans Am for sale in Coral Springs, Florida
Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is excited to present this KILLER 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. It was featured on the cover of Poncho Perfections Magazine August 2017 issue, with an 8-page spread devoted to the car. (Magazine included). The Seller indicates it was signed by the Bandit himself- Burt Reynolds, shortly before his passing. Before you say to yourself na, just another Fire Chicken READ ON. This is a true sleeper and it packs a serious case of whoop-ass. The original, low-horsepower Oldsmobile 403 was swapped out with a fierce GM Performance LSX 454 V8, featuring a GM Performance intake and a FAST 1000 cfm throttle body, so the original shaker scoop could be refitted. A Holley LS accessory kit was installed along with a new air conditioning compressor. Burned dinosaurs are expelled through Hooker ceramic headers and a 3 inch custom exhaust system, making it sound wicked. A carbon fiber driveshaft and BMR Watts Link rear suspension system control the torque. Wilwood brake calipers (6 pistons on the front and 3 on the rear) bring it to a stop. This car looks terrific and underwent a frame-off restoration. It is one of the sharpest color combinations you could get on these, and it looks new thanks to an owner who clearly spent a ton of money on it. Everything from the BF Goodrich Radials T/A Tires, to the WS6 style snowflake aluminum wheels, to the Fisher T-Tops and Trans Am graphics gives this outstanding Pontiac a personality that will turn heads. A good many of these 2nd generation Trans Ams are in average to below average condition. Not this one- it got enough love for 25 of them and boy does it stands out. The interior is nothing less than outstanding with the camel tomes and hobnail fabric. Pop the hood and be impressed with the clean, neat and tidy engine swap- and someone surely had a sense of humor spraying it GM Corporate Blue, just as the original motor would have been. It looks factory- better than factory actually. GM rates the LSX 454 at 627 HP @6300 RPM and 586 LB-FT @5100 RPM. Thats more power than ANY factory Pontiac ever built. Stomp on this car and it simply explodes with power and will bake the tires on command. There is just too much to list here.
