VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1986 Volkswagen Westfalia for sale in Ruskin, Florida

Gateway classic cars of Tampa is proud to list this 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia Camper. The versatile forward-control style and squared-off bread van style make this instantly reminiscent of the classic VW Bus. That is because the Vanagon is the more powerful, larger, and nimbler successor. As you investigate the details, you will discover that kind of investments that keep this classic a practical choice. In fact, the important Westfalia roof even functions as it should. Inside, the driver gets all the right comforts with high-back bucket seat upholstered in a plush tan cloth. It has good bolstering and armrests to make sure it is long-haul comfortable. There is a large steering wheel, a gearshift within easy reach, and an old school AM/FM/Cassette player. Behind the seats are built-in cabinets, a fold-up table, and a fold-flat bed that all mean you can take home with you in a compact and well-organized package. Also, as a true Westfalia, it has the iconic pop-up roof for comfortable camping. Additional camping options include a full bed pop-up, van sleeps 4, gas stove with 2 burners, sick that uses onboard water or hookup water, refrigerator that can use 12 volts DC from batteries/ onboard propane/ or 110 volts AC from a hookup, auxiliary heater that runs on propane, curtains that cover all windows, mosquito netting for rear access, 3 hookup outlets for water, and so on! The Vanagon is said to be the most desirable due to its drivetrain package. The motor is a more powerful 2.1-liter flat four-cylinder engine. The motor is mounted low in the body for a low center of gravity, and the weight near the rear driving wheels delivers a similar power/traction advantages of the original Beetle. Mated to this 4 cylinder is a four-speed manual transmission. So, if you have never driven one before, you are going to be surprised at how lively this VW feels on the road. Add in power steering and Air conditioning, and this is quite a nice total driving package for the long haul. This is the VW camper that delivers the classic look you love but with extra space, convenience, and usefulness.
