Gateway Classic Cars Las Vegas is proud to present, this 1966 Ford Mustang. The introduction of the Mustang was one of the most influential periods for the automotive industry. Ford had no intention of the Mustang becoming so popular and even today the mustang remains one of Fords most tried and true reputations. Officially debuting at the Worlds Fair on April 11th, 1964 the mustang took the world by storm. Some small changes were added in 1966 to distinguish the 64 ½ - 65 year from 66s, including a new grill design, side ornaments behind the doors, wheel covers, and gas cap. The grill of the 64-65 featured a honeycomb design with four metal bars extending out in all four directions from the pony emblem. 66 did away with these bars, while also introducing a slotted grill design. The side ornaments were redesigned to signify an “E shape on the quarter panels behind the doors. Sun visors and round gauge clusters became standard on the mustang as the previous version featured instrument clusters from Fords other model, the Falcon. One of the most notable features was the introduction of Fords Automatic transmission, the C4 “Cruise-O-Matic replacing the 3 on the tree. This 1966, originally sporting a 289, has been updated with a sporty 302 V8 offered by Fords later models around 1967. The Vin color code is decoded as Dark Blue Metallic shows wonderfully in the sun, unique and flashy compared to todays neutral color palette. The classic black interior looks fresh with no large tears or rips to see. The black dash, cushy seats, smooth headliner, and chrome floor shifter all add to her classy and appealing personality.
