This sweet ride is on its 2nd owner, who purchased it from a dealer in Naples, FL in 2012, where it had been traded in by its original owner. He had it repainted in 2015 and has used it as his weekend driver since purchasing it. He installed the RetroSound AM/FM/Bluetooth radio and new speakers in 2018 and added a set of P255/60R15 Cooper Cobra radials in 2019. These tires have about 1000 miles on them, so they have plenty of life left! Under the hood is its original carbureted 350 CID V8, and behind that is its original 3-speed automatic transmission. One of the cool engineering features of the 81 Corvette is that the automatic transmission cars were outfitted with (at the time) the worlds first and only fiberglass-reinforced composite automotive spring. Weighing in at only 8 lbs., it replaced a 41 lb. steel multileaf rear spring, and is much more efficient at handling the strain-energy developed than the multileaf steel springs were, providing a better ride and handling. This 1981 Corvette represents the last year of the carbureted Corvettes, and is a well-preserved survivor, which has been lovingly kept by its two owners. The paint looks very good, and the interior has been well taken care of, with the black seating surfaces and black carpet being in very lightly used condition.
