VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Wagon for sale in Kenosha, Wisconsin

Gateway Classic Cars of Milwaukee is pleased to present this 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Station Wagon. The Bel Air name first appeared on new Chevrolets and continued until 1975. Started as the top-of-the-line Chevy, the Bel Air was a very successful car but in 1922 the name became an icon. Chevy produced its first V8 engine for the 55 model years and sales were very strong. This new Bel Air truly helped set Chevy on top of the sales and performance hep at the time. By 1957 the Bel Airs engine displacement grew to 283 and the fin era was in full swing! In 1958 Chevrolet changed the lineup for their car division making the new Impala the king of all new Chevys and the Bel Air name took its new home as the second level trim offering at Chevy. Make no mistake, the Bel Air was still packed with a lot of punch not only from a styling standpoint, but also in performance! In 1961 Chevys new 409 engine was taking names and breaking hearts all over America, not only at the drag strips by on every main street USA from coast to coast. After World War II Americas need for cars was in full force, so was the baby boom! Countless G.I.s returned home from over seas and started families. The Country was settling into a new way of life, the Great Depression was over, and people were working, growing families, and traveling the country! People were having kids at a rapid rate and moms and dads all over America needed a big car to haul all the kids and groceries around in. Enter the Station Wagon. With the growing economy, a new highway system being built and cars becoming increasingly reliable for long distance travel more and more need for the family hauler. Gm definitely saw this opportunity and ran with it. The Chevrolet Nomad and Pontiac Safari made the wagon seem much more glamourous, and downright sexy. America took to the highways and byways. The Bel Air wagon we are featuring at the Milwaukee showroom maintains much of its original integrity. The wagon shows well and has the time capsule appearance to it. Sporting new black wall tires paired with Chevy half-moon hub caps and a fresh repaint, this wicked long roof has that perfect retro look. The car is powered by the ever reliable 235ci Inline 6 engine malted with a 3-Speed manual transmission with a column shift selector. While the car is bare bones lacking power steering and radio delete it more than makes up for in its handsome and stately looks. This wagon is the perfect candid for a resto mod or drive it as it is and preserve the originality of this true survivor. Pack up the cooler and hit the road in this great piece of American History.
