VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1979 Pontiac Trans Am for sale in Coral Springs, Florida

Honey, Hush! Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is excited to offer this REAL, Y84 Special Edition 1979 Pontiac Trans Am! Yes, you are looking at a genuine, Pontiac Historic Services documented Bandit Trans Am. Its safe to say most car folks remember how, back in the summer of 1977, Pontiacs Trans Am was catapulted into stardom (and over a river) in the movie Smokey and the Bandit, with Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed, Sally Field, Jackie Gleason, and several other celebrities. They tore up the roads (and several cars) and gave Sherriff Buford T. Justice of Texas a run for his money across several states. Two more Smokey & the Bandit movies followed, in 1980 and 1983. This is a 16 option car, equipped with T-Tops, V8 6.6 Liter 4Bbl. 403, 3 speed automatic, air conditioning, soft ray glass, power steering & brakes, power windows, tilt wheel, rear defrost, and custom trim velour camel interior. The exterior finish has a nice deep shine and looks quite good. The air conditioning system is still there, but would require service. The camel color hobnail velour interior looks good and has had some restoration. It could be enjoyed as is or taken to the next level. The factory Fisher T-tops (part of the SE package) fit and latch well. As a note, the Fisher T-Tops are superior to the aftermarket ones in fit, ease of use and rigidity. The original storage pouches are included. The 403 fires up easily and runs well, and benefits from a newer, full dual exhaust system- which allows it to breathe easier. Pontiac fans know Pontiac stopped making its 400s back in 77 and began running out by early 1979. They reserved the remaining ones for 4-speed only cars, for the 1979 run. The 403 Oldsmobile-produced V8 filled the void for non 4-speed cars like this one. Theres plenty of power, cool sound, and those iconic looks to enjoy! Get ready for the compliments. It is getting harder and harder to find good examples of these cars. This one survived the demise of many and is still largely correct. We are offering it well below a #1 value, meaning one could buy it and still have plenty of room to improve it as desired. These are a piece of American History- and with the closure of Pontiac, they are becoming more desirable... still leading Z28s from the period in value. These Trans Ams are a lot of fun to drive and get a lot of attention. And clearly, have proven to be a good investment over the years when you consider the $8343.81 original price! Recent service includes new front springs, oil & filter, new gaskets for oil pan, valve covers, and transmission pan. This 1979 Pontiac Trans Am SE is located at the Fort Lauderdale showroom.
