Gateway Classic Cars of Indianapolis is proud to present this 1974 Chevrolet Corvette for sale! In total, just over 37,000 Corvettes were made in 1974. 32,028 of those were coupes like this car. The 1974 Chevrolet Corvette is the first with rear rubber bumpers. The bumper could not be manufactured reliably in one piece this year. The solution was to manufacture it in two pieces and put them together, this resulted in a seam down the middle of all the 74 models. The new bumper added 30 more pounds to the car. Due to the weight changes, minor suspension changes were made to the front and rear springs. Cast aluminum wheels were on the order sheet but due to manufacturing problems none were actually delivered. A new Gymkhana option was introduced that beefed up the spring rates and suspension. This 74 Vette has that Gymkhana option, as well as, A/C, AM/FM radio, power steering, power brakes, power windows, tilt wheel, and posi traction. This Corvette has been repainted in its life. It is a very clean white on the exterior that goes very well with the tan leather interior. Under the hood is an LT-1 small block put in by the original owner. This is mated to a TH400 automatic transmission. Engine and trans has 4,000 on it since rebuilt and the car has just under 100,000 on, but it surely doesnt show it. A single, smooth rear bumper cover, rear wing and Bullet mirrors add a sleek, custom look with the set of Western Turbine aluminum wheels.
