VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1967 Citroen 2CV for sale in Kenosha, Wisconsin

Gateway Classic Cars is excited to produce this 1967 Citroen 2CV for sale at the Milwaukee Showroom. While it is cool to own high performance or luxury cars, its awesome and important to keep cars in the world that represent automotive history to show the evolution that results in the modern automobile. Starting in the 1930s when Citroen was bought out by the family owned Michelin, the TPV was developed to initially be super fuel efficient (upwards of 90 miles per gallon), and still maintain a smooth ride enough to transport eggs across a field without them cracking. The TPV was a French acronym that translated out to “very small car. By the time 1939 rolled around, 47 prototypes of the car had been developed including the use of different materials like aluminum and magnesium to keep the overall weight of the car as low as possible. In 1939 as well after France declared war on Germany, (the beginning of this little event called World War II), Germany seeked to collaborate with Citroen with the TPV for possible military application in which Pierre-Jules Boulanger, head of Citroen, refused resulting in him being dubbed “Enemy of the Reich being under constant duress of arrest or deportation. The further development of the TPV evolved into the 2CV which had taken a few turns including the use of steel panels instead of aluminum due to the 40% increase of cost to raw materials. Another innovation that was included was the birth of the “hydro-pnuematic suspension to further smooth the ride on these little cars. The production was delayed in 1944 by the incoming Socialist French Government with the liberation from the Allied Forces from the Germans pretty much resulting in a 5 year plan to ration the production of automobiles. Citroen unveiled the 2CV at the Paris Salon in October of 1948 being a close variant of a “peoples car offering affordability and great fuel economy giving the Volkswagen Beetle a run for its money. Flash forward to 1967; this orange well preserved beauty features a 602cc air cooled flat H2 under its hood, which started in 1965, offering 29 horsepower which was a vast improvement since the first model to come out with 9 horsepower. It is linked to the rest of the drivetrain with a 4-speed manual transmission which is noted to have a push and pull in-the-dash style shifter which is unique to this model car. The light little car also comes with a factory vinyl rag top style roof which allows this to either let in the elements or have this little workhorse utilized similar that you would as a truck. These cars dont come across too often in this good of condition so the opportunity to scoop this one up should no be passed up, so make sure youre the one who can call this cars proud new owner!
