Used 1969 Mercury Cougar for sale in West Deptford, New Jersey
Gateway Classic Cars of Philadelphia is presenting a 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible for sale. This Cougar is powered by what is believed to be the original 351 Windsor with automatic transmission. This Cougars coke bottle styling looks great cruising down the street in Indian Summer exterior and White Convertible Top. The Cougar was created as Mercurys version of the Ford Mustang; initially developed as a pony car, it replaced the Cyclone muscle car in the Mercury model line. The XR-7 model brought a wood-grained steering wheel, a simulated wood-grained dashboard with a full set of black-faced competition instruments and toggle switches, an overhead console, a T-type center automatic transmission shifter, and White leather seats. 1969s got a minor body restyle and facelift, with a new grille that is horizontally barred and stretched all the way across the nose, replacing the previous vertical split electric-shaver grille design. Taillights were also restyled, they now canter inward instead of outward, but the style is largely the same.
