For sale in our Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas Showroom is this sporty British 1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500. This Brown Spitfire is in great shape for its age, much of it surviving and original. The Brown exterior has all the stripes and stickers, as well as the hard to find removable hard top. The Soft top underneath is in great shape and folds away nicely. the interior is a tan vinyl, showing minor wear. In 1973 in the United States and Canada, and 1975 in the rest of the world, the 1493 cc inline-four engine was used to make the Spitfire 1500. The Engine in this spitfire was not left stock, taken apart and rebuild to race specs, she sports a healthy loping cam and noticeably more horsepower over stock. Later improvements to the suspension included longer swing axles and a lowered spring mounting point for more negative camber and a wider rear track. The wider, lower stance gave an impressive skid pad result of 0.87g average. This put the Spitfire far ahead of its competition in handling ,winning multiple SCCA national championships. Detail improvements continued to be made and included reclining seats with chequered brushed nylon centre panels and head restraints. This is a great entry level European classic racer; fun to drive and straightforward to work on.
