VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1968 Chevrolet Camaro for sale in Phoenix, Arizona

Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is pumped up to offer this epic 1968 Chevrolet Camaro for sale right now in our Arizona showroom, located in North Phoenix. Everyone remembers how legendary these first-generation Camaros were in the late 60s and how they really contributed to the Muscle Car Era. The car you are looking at was manufactured at the Van Nuys, CA facility in March 1968 and was one of only 8,692 Camaros that year to be painted in “Rallye Green from the factory (“JJ color code). Having this correct color coding is crucial to the value of this car, as well as the rest of the frame off restoration totaling a staggering 6,000 man hours and a final build cost that is much higher than the value of the car. What do you see first when eyeing up this sensational Camaro? Well, other than that PPG polished paint job it would have to be the stylish 18 Boze wheels with polished satin centers. Or the Billet custom front grille assembly. You choose! Either way, this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro for sale covers all the bases when it comes to quality and style. Powering the 68 is a massive 565 CID big-block motor professionally built by a machine shop in Calgary, Alberta featuring top rated performance parts like a Craine Compucam lifter kit with Callies rotating assembly, Diamond forged pistons with JE pro-seal rings and Pro Dart 1 heads. This motor has been dyno tested at 605hp and 704lb ft of torque. Whats most impressive to me is the high-end finish on the engine and under-hood components such as the Billet polished aluminum support bars and hood hinges. Just little things that other builders overlook. Backing the beefy engine is a capable Tremec 5-speed manual transmission with a McLeod dual friction clutch and custom built drive-shaft. A 12-bolt rear end with 3.08 gears special ordered and built by Moser Engineering turns the rear wheels. This Camaro has been driven 1,200 miles since the restoration making sure everything works as it should and all bugs taken care of. The attention to detail is even more apparent once you get inside this incredible car- custom black leather bucket seats with suede inserts are both supportive and comfortable. The owner has taken thoughtful care to maintain elements of originality such as the heater controls, the aftermarket retro-modern stereo system and my favorite touch: period correct GM lap-belts. The Dakota Digital gauges on this car has to be one of the best in-dash units Ive ever seen with a healthy combination of analogue and digital readouts. The trunk has been finished with new materials and looks show-ready. We have so much documentation with this build but I dont have enough space to write about it in this paragraph!
