VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1968 Volvo P1800 S for sale in Phoenix, Arizona

Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale proudly welcomes this Classic Piece of History, a Gorgeous 1968 VOLVO P1800S! This 68 Volvo P1800S has been recently painted (March 2019) with a beautiful PPG Guards Red, matching its historical look, while being complemented with a black interior and buckets seats. A fun car that starts right up, runs, drives and rides really nice. Believe me it does get the looks on the road and at the shows. If youre looking for a cool and unique collector, this car is for you!! The Volvo P1800S is a 2+2, front-engine, rear-drive sports car manufactured and marketed by Volvo Cars between 1961 and 1973. Originally a coupe (1961-1972), it was altered into a shooting-brake for the duration of its production (1972-1973). Styling was by Pelle Petterson under the tutelage of Pietro Frua when Fruas studio was a subsidiary of the prestigious Italian Carrozzeria Ghia, and mechanicals derived from Volvos dependable Amazon/122 series. Marketed as a stylish touring car rather than a sports car, the P1800 became widely known when driven by future James Bond actor Roger Moore in the hit television series The Saint which aired from 1962-1969. In 1998, an P1800S owned by Irv Gordon (1940-2018) was certified as the highest mileage private vehicle driven by the original owner in non-commercial service — having exceeded three million miles (over 4.8 million km) as of 2013. In 1966 the four-cylinder engine the factory updated to 115 bhp (86 kW). Top speed was 175 km/h (109 mph). The Volvo P1800S received prominence in the early 60s when a white 1962 Volvo P1800S with number plate ST1 was driven by the character Simon Templar (Roger Moore) in the hit TV series The Saint (1962-69). When asked to name his favorite movie car many years later, Moore said it was the Volvo P1800S, commenting: I have a great affection for the Volvo P1800S, as, of course, I owned one, as well as used one in the series. Its a beautiful car and I still drive a Volvo to this day. Additional options on this 1968 Volvo P1800S include; New Pioneer in-dash AM/FM CD player and rear speakers, New Weber Carb, New exhaust header & exhaust system, new front and rear gas shocks, scissor jack, lug wrench, spare tire, along with two spare steel wheels, Aluminum/Alloy wheels and vinyl interior.
