VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1950 Mercury Sedan for sale in Houston, Texas

Now for sale in our Houston showroom is this Nifty-Fifty (duh, 1950!) Mercury Sedan. The odometer reads 6,651, but the actual mileage is unknown. The body of this 50 Merc has had the full gamut of custom touches applied to its original sheet metal; including having been shaved, nosed, decked, taillights and radio antenna openings frenched, and getting the classic hood louver treatment for that lead-sled look. Even though the restoration has aged a bit, the black paint still looks good from any angle, and the relatively new chrome bumpers really pop against the black. Under the hood lurks Chevys mighty mouse: a 350 CID V8 that is topped by an Edelbrock aluminum intake and carb, and finned aluminum Edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner lid. The 350 benefits from a mild performance cam, HEI ignition, and enhanced cooling thanks to the addition of a thermostatically controlled electric pusher fan that aids the cooling provided by the standard belt-driven fan. Iron exhaust manifolds scavenge the exhaust into a dual exhaust system thats equipped with Hooker mufflers and stainless tips and results in both a cool sound and vintage look. A GM TH350 3-speed automatic transmission backs up the engine and sends the power to the 3.08:1 gear-equipped 10-bolt rear end out back. The trans has a mild shift kit for a little extra snap and is shifted via a floor-mount Lokar shifter. Inside, the new carpeting, new black and white leather (and synthetic leather) interior looks just right, and the leather scent coming from the front bucket seats will make your nose feel right, too. Youll appreciate the Vintage Air system for both its heating and cooling benefits, and the Pioneer AM/FM/CD head unit and custom door speakers help you carry a tune as youre motoring down Route 66 in style. The original dash which has been refurbished and looks great. While youre out exploring the cruising potential of this Fine Fifty, youll appreciate ride provided by the Falken 205/50R-15 radials up front and 225/60-R16 Falken radials out back, which are wrapped around staggered aluminum American Racing wheels. Youll also appreciate the fact that a great deal of preventive maintenance updates have been done to the car. A little over 500 miles ago, both rear air shocks (and their lines) were replaced, the rear brakes were completely rebuilt and received new liners, new Axle Saver rear axle bearings were installed along with new axle seals, the differential was serviced, and the front suspension and steering were updated with new upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie-rod ends and both sleeves, and new idler and pitman arms. In addition to having front disc brakes, there is also an adjustable brake proportioning valve to allow for fine-tuning the front/rear braking bias. This 1950 Mercury for sale also received something else it didnt come with from the factory - reverse lights, complete with an electronic reverse light actuator that was added to the transmission for the Lokar shifter, and twin custom side view mirrors joined the party as well. Additional features and options for this 1950 Mercury Sedan include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio with CD Player, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Keyless Entry, Seat Belts, Leather Interior, Radial Tires, and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels.
