Under the hood of this beast is a Chevrolet 302 cubic inch motor backed up by a M-21 4-speed transmission. Per the provided owner documentation, the engine, transmission, and 12 bolt posi-traction rear end are all not only numbers matching components but born with original to car. All critical components, and many auxiliary pieces have either been rebuilt by hand or rebuilt by industry professional to OEM standards. The exhaust was tastefully upgrade to Gardner - the penultimate exhaust system for these first gen Camaros - and the chrome exhaust tips are correct for late production vehicles - the build of this car has been traced back to the fifth week of September in 1969. General Motors produced the 302 in order to complete with the SCCA <5.0 liter engine requirements. From the factory performance numbers were intentionally underrated at 290HP at 5800RPM. Most Z28 fans know these 302s rev beyond 5800RPM, but few know the exact limits. Most drivers were confident revving up to 7,000RPM and some brave enough to go beyond. Simple fact is this rough and tumble cam is begging the driver to show the right pedal some love! Beyond the rarity of a true Z28 in this condition, is the yellow houndstooth interior. We are unclear on how many Z28s were produced with the yellow houndstooth, but we do know there cannot be many left in this condition. All of the restoration photos, and firewall tag verify and validate every claim this car has. The entire drivetrain has been rebuilt and carries less than 200 miles on the build that occurred from 2010 to 2013. The mileage is enough to shake out any gremlins, but low enough to be a fresh driver for the new owner.
