Truck enthusiasts everywhere, Gateway Classic Cars is excited to offer this 1954 Chevrolet 3600 Stake Bed in our Milwaukee showroom. Chevrolet entered the truck market competitively in 1918 with the Series 490. The 490 was sold as a chassis only. Leaving the customer to create a truck cab and rear bed. Chevrolet also introduced a one -ton truck ironically called the Chevrolet Model T. It was considered the first purpose- built truck by an automobile manufacturer. It took until 1931 before Chevrolet started producing factory built complete trucks. Customer now could buy a truck compete with a cab and bed of their choice straight from the factory. This was the start of truck revolution which still exists today. Our 1954 Chevrolet 3600 Stake Bed is a fine example of Chevys new and redesigned truck postwar. Most notable was the five-bar horizontal grille. The inside cab was both longer and wider to accommodate a third person. New comfort features were added such as a fresh-air heater and defrost system. Our 1954 Stake bed features a brand- new grille, instrument panel, parking lights and a one-piece windshield. Under the hood is a 235 cubic inch engine attached T5 five speed transmission transplanted from a 1988 S-15. The engine has been completely rebuilt. A rear end was installed from a 1988 Suburban only 3,000 miles ago. Many modern conveniences have been added including: a 12- volt upgrade, Devetech Hei ingnition, electric wipers, and new wiring harness. Also included are the owners -manual, shop manuals, and an awesome original sales brochure. This striking green 1954 Chevrolet 3600 Stake Bed is one great looking truck.
