The original beetle had just 25hp and a top speed of 62 mph .By 1962 the engine was upgraded to an 1192 cc engine and 40hp. However, this 1962 Beetle has a 2110 cc stroker engine making over 150whp. It has a new pro street transaxle to handle the additional power from the engine and four wheel disc brakes to slow it back down. Purchased by the current owner in 1981, it was stripped down to bare metal and repainted. The seats and interior were reupholstered and an OEM sunroof cover was purchased and installed from a Volkswagen dealer. This Beetle also features a “Herbie vinyl decal kit as a tribute to the 1968 movie The Love Bug. It has been garage kept since the completion of the restoration in 1982.In 2015 the engine stock engine was replaced with new stroker engine. This car is deceptively fast and a blast to drive.
