BACKGROUND: The 1938 recession hurt sales, as did Fords continuing of the 1937 cars, including most body panels. 1938 Deluxe models were differentiated with a heart-shaped grille. The engine used that year would have been a V8 with either 60 or 85 horsepower. A new dash was used, with recessed controls for safety. This restored 1938 Ford Deluxe is being powered by a 400M (also called a 351M), which is a short-skirt overhead valve pushrod V8 engine. As you can see in the video, this coupe has no deficiencies in starting, accelerating, or anything. It is a very smooth ride.
