VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1973 Ford Thunderbird for sale in Deer Valley, Arizona

Gateway Classic Cars is excited to offer this unique 1973 Ford Thunderbird for sale right now in our Scottsdale, Arizona showroom located in North Phoenix. You will immediately notice what I am referring to through the word ‘unique’ when looking closely at the roof of this T-bird, which has a removable hardtop. According to the seller, who has owned the car since 1985, this was a custom fitted option for the original owner that was installed by a Ford dealer and was not some back-yard hackjob. The ‘destination code’ on the data plate backs this claim up, as this was a home office reserved car or in other words a Ford executive was the first owner. This Thunderbird looks like it was reserved for a moviestar with the double gold color option; the gold exterior paintjob still shines bright while the gold leather interior and carpet inside have held up well over the years. Equally as impressive is the original, numbers matching powertrain on this Ford. It has the 429 CID V8 tied to a C6 3-speed automatic transmission that shifts as smooth as the leather on the seats. This 1973 Ford Thunderbird for sale right now comes included but not exclusively with the following options: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio with 8-track player, Targa Top (1-pc hardtop), Cruise Control, Power Brakes, Power Steering and Power Windows. The owner has kindly included some parts he has accumulated over the years which should help the new buyer get started with any projects they want to work on including: new valve covers and gaskets, touch-up paint, lead additive for gasoline, a new climate control dash unit, a power window motor/regulator, spare floormats and a set of four original hubcaps. These sixth generation Thunderbirds (1972-76) were the largest and heaviest Thunderbirds ever built by Ford, with a curb weight of almost 4500lbs. With a total length of 225 inches you will see the sun move west in the sky just walking from the trunk to the engine compartment! This is a very composed car to drive with almost as many creature comforts as a modern car and it makes you feel like you own the road compared with all the compact cars most people drive today.
