For sale in our Chicago showroom is this absolutely stunning 1986 Ford Mustang GT Convertible. Powered by the original 43k mile 5.0l H.O. V8 with some tasteful upgrades and backed by a rebuilt AOD 4-speed automatic transmission. The long block is stock Ford, but almost everything bolted to the block has been changed out. BBK is sprinkled methodically around the engine, including a cold air intake, 65mm throttle body, equal-length headers, and a 190lph fuel pump. The intake manifold is a Trick Flow unit, and the electric water pump is made by CSR. Giving the voice to this burly 302 is a catless H-pipe. Power is no good without traction, so to keep the wheels from helplessly spinning, a set of 90/10 Lakewood struts were installed paired up with Strange Engineering 10-way adjustable shocks. The unibody on these Fox mustangs are known to twist, so to keep that from happening a set of frame connectors have been welded in, the torque boxes were welded and reinforced, and the rear control arms were replaced with aftermarket units to deflect less and keep the power going to the wheels. Sitting at all 4 corners are Weld Wheel Draglites with Mickey Thompson rubber. This ‘Stang means business! Once inside the cabin, you will notice the Flaming River steering column, a definite upgrade from factory, a set of Autometer gauges to keep tabs on the engine RPMs as well as the water temp. You can feel the 3500 stall converter flash up when you lay on the gas and the 8.8 rear axle with all new internals spins the 4.10 gears and rockets you from a stop. This is one serious street car! With all these upgrades on an already clean 86, this is as good as it gets!
