For sale in our St. Louis Showroom is very clean 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Indianapolis 500 Pace Car. 1978 marked the 62nd running of this legendary race where Al Unser Sr. captured the checkered flag. Along with wins at the Pocono 500 and California 500 later in the season, Al Unser Sr. swept the triple crown of Indy Car racing and as of now is the only driver in history to do so. This Pace Car Edition Corvette is also a 25th Anniversary model marking the quarter century milestone for the Corvette production. It wears the original black over silver color scheme which was resprayed about 8 years ago and features some, but not the entire Pace Car decal kit. The silver upholstery has been replaced and looks great along with the rest of the interior. The underside and engine bay have been restored as well and are incredibly clean. The 350 CID L48 V8 engine looks almost new in its engine bay and fires up without hesitation. The TH-350 automatic transmission shifts exactly as it should and performs great. The odometer reads 94,457, which represents the actual mileage on the car. These Pace Car Corvettes feature mirrored glass T-Tops, which help match the silver paint on bottom and provide a unique roofline appearance.
