The paint was resprayed at some point and shines with pride. The vinyl interior is believed to be original, it has aged very well, showing little signs of wear and aging. Powering this 78’ Trans Am is a W72 6.6L 400 4BBL V8, which is believed to be the original engine it rolled off the assembly line with. The W72 400 V8 was more powerful than the standard L78 by at least 20 horserpower. The 3-speed automatic transmission is also believed to be original and shifts the power to the rear end beautifully. The 2nd generation of GM/Pontiac’s F-Body vehicles hosted an array of impressive body lines, eye-opening powertrain, and new options for over a decade (1970-1981), and this specific arrival is a shining example of why the 2nd generation held such a lengthy tenure.
