In 1985, Pontiac made its first substantial styling change of the third generation Trams Am which launched in 1982. The styling changes featured a restyled nose, new taillights, and full rocker and quarter panel extensions on the Trans Am to give it a more aggressive appearance. The Trans Ams hood with the drivers side bulged scoop, standard in 1984 and optional for 1982-1983, was now replaced with a flat hood with front and rear vents for under-hood cooling.
