Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this numbers matching 1971 Ford Mustang Boss 351. This beautiful Mustang has been repainted in correct factory Bright Red (color code 3) and looks great. Inside the rare optioned red vermillion vinyl interior with cloth inserts that really sets this Boss apart from the others of this vintage. The black carpet, black center console and black dash are a nice contrast; it really sets off the bright red seats. Under the hood is the 330 hp 351 Boss (code R) and is part of the drag pack option which included manual 4-speed with Hurst Shifter and 3.91 traction lok differential. The 351 Boss engine has been rebuilt and balanced, so there will be no need for rebuilding of this car for quite some time. The engine looks just as it would on the showroom floor in 1971 with the proper info decals on the valve covers and the fenders. In many instances, its the small details that are overlooked, but not with this gem. As a matter of fact as long as it is taken care and maintained properly, it will be ready to for the next generation of collectors. The owner has a packet of literature to go with this Boss that validates its authenticity and increases the collectability as the years go by. Recent purchase prices at auctions indicate these are steadily on the rise in value. The Boss is also equipped the competition suspension and will put the Firestone F60-15’s to their limits. As for bragging rights, the Boss 351 is considered to be faster than the 429 equipped Mach I of the same year. The Boss 351 jumped from a standing start to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 13.6 seconds. In a Motor Trend test from 1971, the bigger cube 429 CJ accelerated from 0 to 60 in 6.4 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 14.7 seconds. The Boss 351 is also the rarest of the 71 Mustangs with only 1806 produced.
