Used 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II for sale in Norwood, Massachusetts
The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II was introduced in October 1959, and was the first Rolls-Royce model to exceed Bentley in production numbers, with 2,716 built between 1959 and 1962; only 299 of these rode the long wheelbase chassis. The owner's handbooks, small and large tools and yearly journals kept by the first owner detailing each and every repair and service operation performed from 1960-1988 are included along with the original factory warranty document. Finished as originally supplied in Sable over Sand with Beige Connolly hides, this never damaged or corroded example was re-laquered by us for the first time ever before resale to its most recent owner in 2002 at 29,251 miles.
The Silver Cloud's new V-8 engine replaced the venerable straight-six, which was originally introduced in 1907 and fitted to the Silver Ghost. The new V8 provided about 30 percent more horsepower and cruising speed was increased by raising the rear axle ratio. The Silver Cloud models signaled the end of the coachbuilt period, as Rolls-Royce found it could sell 10 times as many cars with "standard steel bodies." Custom Rolls-Royces were occasionally built after 1970, but by then the company had predominantly taken the path it is following today. These coachbuilt Silver Clouds are extremely desirable today as a result.
