For sale in our Chicago showroom is an original 1950 Buick Special sedan. This car is amazingly preserved including the original paint and what is believed to be the original seat covers over the Mohair upholstery. One thing truly remarkable about this classic Buick is that the paint and chrome are original as well and still shine up nicely. It is hard to believe that after 66 years this car still looks amazing and runs and drives just as well. One turn of the Briggs and Stratton key on the original dealer key chain and a press of the accelerator the original 263 cubic inch V8 fires right up and runs whisper quiet. Luxury cars of the time were so concerned about the cars running as smooth and quiet as possible there was actually a muffler installed on the air cleaner assembly to limit air intake noise. In addition to the long straight 8 this car is equipped with the legendary Dynaflow transmission that was a variable pitch design that does not shift gears. This type of technology has just recently started to be used in modern cars again. After many years of pampering and some years of covered storage this car has been resurrected into what you see before you. In addition to some vintage service records and a photo of the car in storage under a cover before it was found this car also has a trip log from a journey traveled by a previous owner documenting where he stopped and how often he filled up with gas - along the way getting a speeding ticket and meeting some interesting people. Its hard to believe that this car has traveled just over 23000 miles in 66 years.Its so hard not to fall in love with the wide whitewall tires original light green paint and huge chrome bumper with the iconic Buick smiling front end.
