For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1969 Camaro Z/28. This Z/28 has the numbers matching engine and transmission and is painted in a gorgeous shade of red nicely complimented with black racing stripes. Inside is the popular black and white Hounds tooth cloth interior and wood grain accents. For those of you that do not know why the Z/28 came to be it was to participate in the 5 liter class in the SCCA Trans Am racing series. This little 302 was heavily underrated at 290 horsepower. Built to full racing specs these little 302s could produce near the 500 horsepower mark! Racing teams would acid dip the bodies to shed any unnecessary weight and fit them with full roll cages racing suspensions and soft compound tires for extra grip. The Z/28 Camaros were racing against the Boss 302 AMC Javelin and the AAR Cuda to name a few. Mark Donohue piloted the Penske racing team Camaro in 1969 winning the last 6 races in the season making him and the car the seasons champion. This Z/28 was restored 12 years ago and has since covered 1550 miles. It is equipped with power four wheel disc brakes hounds tooth interior with wood grain accents Rally Wheels with Firestone Sports Car 200 bias Ply tires center console with polished shifter AM/FM radio and rally gauges.
