VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1963 Dodge Polara for sale in DFW AIRPORT, Texas

For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is the creation of a true legend of Hot Rodding. Built by the one and only Boyd Coddington this 1963 Dodge Polara known as â??Max Hemiâ? was created to make a young manâ??s wish of building a car with the legendary craftsman come true. Starting with a fairly solid body as a foundation this show stopper was fashioned the way that only the late great Boyd Coddington and his crew of artisans could achieve. As expected this vehicle was taken down to the bare metal and the sheet metal made laser straight before a mirrored finish black was draped over three coats of wet sanded primer. While the vehicle was down to the metal the door handles were shaved the rear was tubbed for the massive 295 rear tires and added a new floor pan and firewall. Naturally a car named Max Hemi must have a Hemi under the hood. A 472 CID Hemi V8 crate motor was chosen to take up the mantle of motivating this sleek machine. The dual carb cross ram intake manifold and hood scoop pay homage to the Max Wedge Polara. The engine bay required extensive modification to accommodate the elephant under the hood. The front also received a Magnum Force Mopar tubular suspension while the rear was upgraded with a coilover and ladder bar setup. A rack-and-pinion steering setup was chosen in favor of the original steering box. The wheels are a one off set of Boyd Coddingtonâ??s own design. If the exterior is a showcase of the proper combination of black and chrome then the interior is a master class on the application of red with every surface of the monochromatic cabin from the leather seats plush carpets and painted metal dash slathered in crimson. The trunk is finished in a similar fashion. The Make-A-Wish foundation requested this vehicle for one of the kids in their program. Young Max Cohen hence the â??Maxâ? in Max Hemi had a dream of building a car with Boyd and was even able to assist with the some of the drilling welding and cutting required on the rear valance of the car. After Max Hemi was featured at SEMA in 2005 it was auctioned at Barret-Jacksonâ??s 35th Anniversary Auction in Socttsdale and comes with documentation of the history. Max Hemi raised $550000 for childrenâ??s charities when it sold. Donâ??t miss your chance to own a fantastic car with a wonderful story to go with it.
