For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is a 1979 Hurst/Olds W30. You would be hard pressed to find a much better example of 70â??s and 80â??s cool than the Hurst Olds. The Hurst/Olds was the result of cooperation between Oldsmobile and Hurst Performance to create a high-performance variation of the Cutlass 442. The 1979 was the first Hurst/Olds that did not offer a 455 engine. Instead the 1979 model was the only G-body to feature a Chevrolet 350 CID V8 in 1979. The 1979 Hurst/Olds was also equipped with Hurtâ??s Dual Gate shifter also known as the â??His and Herâ??sâ? or â??Street/Stripâ? shifter. On the driverâ??s side there was the standard automatic or â??Streetâ? shift pattern. However on the passenger side was the â??Stripâ? pattern boasting an adjustable positive-latching shift gate with neutral lockout. The Dual Gate Shifter controlled an M-38 Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 transmission which routed power to a 10-bolt axle with 2.73:1 gears. This 1979 Hurst Olds is instantly identifiable by its two-tone gold and white paint scheme. The wheels and grille are also painted gold to match.
