VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1970 Buick GS for sale in O'Fallon, Illinois

For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a 1970 Buick Skylark Gran Sport 455. The GS badge has been given to all the high performance models produced by Buick over the years. Starting in the beginning of the muscle car era in 1965 with the Skylark Gran Sport which featured the largest engine GM allowed in intermediate body cars at the time a 400 CID V8. It produced 325 horsepower and became known as the Nailhead engine. Eventually the Gran Sport earned its own model in 1967 after boosting sales the two prior years. Shortly thereafter however sales dipped a bit at the height of the muscle car era as Buick was a bit pricier and not as popular as the marquee names. To combat this dip and lack of popularity Buick introduced the Stage 1 in 1969. Buick limited production of the Stage 1 less than 1500 were produced and it featured an redesigned 400 CID V8 which produced 340 horsepower. Eventually in 1970 the 400 CID V8 was replaced with the massive and more powerful 455 CID V8. The 455 produced 350 horsepower from the base version of the engine and a conservative 360 horsepower rating from the more aggressively tuned Stage 1 GS version. Options for this particular 1970 Buick Skylark Gran Sport 455 include: AM/FM Radio Automatic Convertible Top Power Steering Power Brakes Seat Belts Vinyl Interior Raised White Letter Radial Tires and Rally Wheels. Powering this 70 GS 455 is a 455 CID V8 with an automatic transmission. A new Edelbrock carburetor was installed just over a year ago along with a radiator mufflers and belts and hoses. Finished in an awesome color combination of bright red exterior paint with a white power vinyl top and new white vinyl interior. Complimenting the white vinyl interior is the black dash and console featuring wood grain accents.
