This 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Split Bumper is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. 1970 would mark the first complete revamp of GMs very successful pony car. The Gen II would be a lot sleeker with its long gradual sloping roof line giving it basically a fastback look. This would also be the first year that a convertible was not available and actually the only model run to not offer a convertible. Even without the convertible option the Gen 2 was an undeniable winner and would go relatively unchanged for 12 years. I say relatively because the now highly sought after and what some would say the best looking camaro a split bumper were only available until 73. Their name comes from the two small bumpers with the grill extruding and splitting them up hence split bumper. This 1970 has a that classic hotrod stance with a set of skinny wheels upfront and much larger ones in the rear this beauty looks like it is ready to pounce. The period correct hugger orange paint with the white racing stripes down the middle only add to that classic street machine look. Pop the hood and the most popular engine ever made looks right at home as it should since this was an original 350 car from the factory. The small block in the car now is a strong running engine with a ton of low end torque making this split bumper take off from a stand still nicely. The motor has just the right amount of power and performance due to the mild cam giving it a nice lop[e but nothing to radical. The exhaust note was achieved through a set of headers fed into a true dual exhaust. Ofcourse if you really want to wake up the neighborhood the cutouts can be uncapped giving you the full experience. With the luxury of power steering driving this classic is a dream. Add to that the powered brakes with disc upfront give you the confidence to make this a daily driver if need be. Open the door and the black interior is very impressive with no signs of wear evident anywhere. The horseshoe shifter is mounted nicely in the center console which has been accented with the same orange paint as the outside giving it subtle custom touch. The skulls are simply stickers which if not your taste can be removed simply by pulling them off. All in all with the recent explosion in the second gen Camaros especially split bumpers theres no way this one will last long.
