This 1985 Blown Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The 4th generation Monte Carlo was introduced in 1981. Though not considered by todays standard as a performance vehicle the 85 SS was one of the few front engine rear drive cars available. Sales would reflect that with the SS models selling very well. This could be the reason that many enthusiasts have taken these cars and built them into absolute asphalt pounders. This particular 85 is no exception with over 10k sitting under the hood this SS is a true performance vehicle. The current owner started with an 85 SS but knew the 170 horse 305 would never be able to produce the kind of power he was wanting. The 305 was pulled and the building process began. First a small block bored .30 over was sourced which is really the perfect building block for a blown yes I said blown street motor. The 355 has the classic roots style blower made Weiand A truly top notch company that has been doing SCs just as long as anyone. Capable of increasing power by 50% superchargers are a great option for the street producing consistent usable power throughout the rpm range. This 355 is estimated at putting out 400 ponies which when you think about it is a far cry from the 170 that this car originally had. Putting out that kind of power you are going to need a strong transmission so naturally the TH400 was an instant choice able to handle the power and torque all while being controlled through the B&M ratchet shifter. With the ability to be put in D and drive just like a normal car or drop it all the way down to 1 and simply bang through the other two gears without a worry of hitting neutral or reverse. Ofcourse you donâ??t want those rear tires just spinning so a set M.T. ET Street radials that become very sticky once heated up. The yellow paint looks great with the small cowl hood giving it just enough to differentiate it from a stock Monte. The interior ofcourse is comfortable but with a set buckets it really makes you feel like youre in a real sports car. Dont like hearing the supercharger just turn up the custom sound system with the 2 subs in the trunk and this car is sure to make the neighbors mad one way or another.
