Used 1979 Chevrolet Corvette for sale in O'Fallon, Illinois

Gateway Classic Cars or St. Louis is proud to offer a very wild 1979 Chevrolet Corvette. This street/strip car doesnt retain much more than the body of a 79 Corvette. Under the lift off hood youll find an LS7 454 which has been bored to a 468 CID V8. The block was honed and decked for trueness. Inside youll find forged pistons 7/16 APR rod bolts and Clevite 77 rod and cam bearings. It has LS7 open chambered square port heads with extensive porting. The valves are 3/8 Stem Manley pro flow: Intake = 2.190 and Exhaust = 1.880. The rockers are Crane 1.7 roller tipped. The cam is also by Crane with .680 to .700 lift and duration. An Edlebrock TM2R intake manifold houses an 850 CFM double pumper Holley carburetor. The engine has a new electric water pump dual point distributer 8 qt oil pan and a new aluminum radiator with electric fan. The beast breaths through a nice set of headers and free flowing exhaust. Backing the big block is a rebuilt and tested TH400 automatic with a 2400 stall converter and a new B&M shifter. Putting the power down is a Dana 60 with 5.14 Richmond rear with Posi-Traction. A healthy set of Mickey Thompsons provide plenty of rubber to contact the road. The list continues in this baby with 4 link suspension with coil over shocks Mustang II steering rack and disc brakes. The interior is custom made for racing but still has two seats both with racing harnesses. The gauges come from Auto Meter and give a clear view of the vitals for the driver. The car has a full cage and a fuel cell as well which aid with safety. The whole car has a new Painless wiring harness which keeps things simple and again: safe. The whole thing is finished in a Mopar color: Ruby Red Pearl which looks great. With a few added decals its clear this thing means business. This Vette is ready for the street the strip shows or whatever you have in mind.
